Cheddar Bay Biscuits (Red Lobster)

If you love Red Lobster’s famous Cheddar Bay drop biscuits? This is them. Probably better.  I tried several knock off recipes from the internet and wasn’t completely impressed. Most of them use biscuit mix (Bisquick) as a starter. This recipe is very easy and served with Chili or Shepard's Pie. Yummers!!!

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1 1/4 cups milk

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
In a mixing bowl, sift together the first 7 ingredients.
Using a pastry blender or fork cut in butter until the mixture resembles course crumbs..
Stir in cheese, then add sour cream and milk. Mix until combined Do NOT overmix.
Scoop biscuit dough with ice cream scoop and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
Bake for 20 - 25 minutes.

Topping:

6 tablespoons butter, melted
¾ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon parsley
Melt butter. Stir in garlic powder, parsley, and a dash of salt. Bake at 450 degrees for 20-25 minutes. After removing biscuits from the oven, spoon the topping over them.*Your baking time may vary! I make 15 biscuits from this recipe. If you make your biscuits smaller or larger, it will change your baking time.
